The Hayward’s Safari House is the private bush villa of Peter J W Hayward, Founder of Hayward’s Grand Safari Company.
This private and exclusive-use three bedroomed bush villa is the ideal space for an unencumbered breakaway to wide open bushveld spaces on the edge of the Gauteng Province teeming with wildlife and representing a perfect hideaway for a relaxed and stress-free safari experience.
This well secured home is supported by a trained hospitality team comprising of a butler (to ensure your comfort), a housekeeper (to keep it refreshed each day) as well as a groundsman to set up fire places and recline areas outside. The kitchen is fully equipped for you use and if required, our chef team to prepare and present a delectable selection of menus for you if you choose the fully catered option.
There is also an outside lapa (barbecue/braai) dining area under thatch where our team will set up for you should you so require.
Professional game rangers can be pre-arranged to accompany you on guided walks or drives through the reserve and a variety of spa treatments are on offer to melt away your stress, all coming together to make for the most relaxing few days possible.
Centrally Situated
The Hayward’s Safari House is centrally situated within Gauteng Province, 85km north east of OR Tambo Airport and Sandton.
It is adjacent to Dinokeng Big 5 Game Reserve in the Bobbejaansberg Private Nature Reserve, 20km from the Diamond Mining Town of Cullinan and 10km north of Roodeplaat Dam.
More About the Bush Villa
Hayward’s Safari House commands great views over the magnificent Boekenhoutskloof valley and overlooks a spring fed water hole frequented by wildlife. This private 1000 hectare reserve is an ideal bush experience for a quick unencumbered and stress free breakaway for peace, privacy and tranquillity.
Hayward’s Safari House has three bedrooms (main bedroom has a Jacuzzi bath), two bathrooms with showers, an East African reading room, a Persian recline lounge, an upstairs a eight seat classic dining room supported by a fully equipped kitchen.
The venue is ideal for private parties of 6 guests (3 couples) with space for up to 4 children under 12 years of age. Rooms can be set up in twin or double bed configuration.
Towels and amenities are provided. Rooms and outdoor areas are serviced daily.
A mobile safari porta pool is supplied in summer months and hammocks hang between trees. Picnic tables are shifted under shade for long lazy lunches.
Our mobile Tented Spa can be set up (optional extra) in the gardens or around the oasis for relaxing full body massages and treatments by highly skilled anti stress therapists.
A two to four bed authentic safari tent can be erected in the fenced garden should children (ages 8 – 12) wish to camp out each evening under supervision.
No Television
There is no TV (on purpose) but the National Geographic & Discovery channel is right outside – In 3D
Cell phone reception and Wi-Fi is good and an array of board games are available.

Self-Guided Activities
Regrettably no self-driving allowed on the Reserve.
Over 30km of dust roads to walk, run or cycle on. All guided game drives, guided walks or guided horse trails must be pre-booked. There are great picnic spots outside of the fenced house area around the waterhole or overlooking the plains.
A selection of acrylic paints, easels, brushes and sketch paper are supplied.
Photography & Birdwatching
The Dinokeng region is renowned for sightings with over 350 bird species recorded.
Wildlife Encounters
The Bobbejaansberg Private Nature Reserve is teeming with giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, kudu, hartebeest, waterbuck, nyala, duiker, impala warthog, bushpigs and a variety of other rare species.
PLEASE NOTE – no big game such as rhino, buffalo, elephant and lion are present on this 1000 hectare Reserve
Fishing
Bring your own fly fishing rods – oasis is stocked with bream and our dam on the Boekenhouts River has bass, cat fish (barble) and bream.
