Drives & Walks
Game Drives & Guided Walks
Activities such as guided game drives or guided walks through our 1000 hectare reserve can be arranged at a fee for you. You are however welcome to walk or cycle the reserve roads at no extra cost. Game viewing on foot is always exciting so bring a good camera.
The reserve is also relatively safe for doing mountain biking (so bring your own bike).
Long Bow Archery
Enjoy this grand old pastime expertly led by bowmen with extensive knowledge of this sport in Africa. Targets set up as well as “walk through” bush courses. Ideal leisurely activity.
Hot Air Ballooning
It’s a very early start as you head off before sunrise for your rendezvous with the hot air balloon flight team. Balloons are launched before sun up over the adjoining Dinokeng Game Reserve of 30,000 hectares of bushveld and are an outstanding way of seeing the hinterland. Celebrate your safe landing with Cape Sparkling and receive your Certificate by the Pilot. This is certainly a once in a lifetime experience and especially over this Big 5 Game Reserve.
Clay Pigeon Shooting
This is an exciting activity for both men and woman and is not just about pulling a trigger but rather a shooting experience. Guests can enjoy a simulated “Game Bird Shoot” using Clay Targets in a variety of ways around our waterhole. Examples “Flushed Partridge” “Driven Pheasant” & “Bolting Rabbit” This activity makes use of good sporting shotguns and non semi-automatic’s or pump action shotguns using low recoil cartridges. We provide hearing protection & safety cages.
Guided Horse Rides
Saddled horses ready to explore 1’000 hectares teeming with game. Get up close to giraffe, Zebra and antelope. An ideal and slow paced way of seeing the reserve.
Helicopter Transfers

This is a mere 20 minutes from Waterfall Heliport in Midrand, landing in pristine bushveld to start your safari exploration.
Fly Fishing Academy
There is a choice of two dams within the Reserve and the Boekenhouts river which flows through the reserve. Bass and Tilapia have been released in these seldom fished waters. The Academy is a fun and entertaining way to learn more about the art of African fly fishing. Expert Fly Fishermen facilitating the tuition and assisting to get your technique fine-tuned – this is definitely educational.

Our unique lavish mobile spa under canvas is a haven of serenity that exceeds holistic wellness combining excellent service and the perfect surroundings giving you an exceptional holistic anti-stress experience. For one or two treatments only, this can also be set up under the trees in the lush garden or around the Oasis. Your tailor made hands on treatments are personalised by our internationally trained and very knowledgeable therapists.
Specialised techniques include; Sports massage, Reiki, Shiatsu, Indian Head Massage, Reflexology, Ayurveda and Aromatherapy massage to name a few. A range of these will be incorporated into your treatment along with the use of high quality 100% natural oils.
Perfumery
A fun and interactive activity where a Natural Perfumer and Aromachologist shares her wealth of knowledge of the history of perfume, the difference between natural and synthetic perfumes as well as how to use perfumes to increase your well-being. You will have the opportunity to explore your creativity and make your own first perfume to take home.
Stargazing
A large telescope is set up for guests to view the stars & constellations, planets, the moon and comets. The Astronomer imparts interesting stories and facts with those with a keen willingness to learn more as well as stargazing enthusiasts, astro-photographers, serious sky watchers, researchers alike. You’ll receive a sky map too.
